Flawless Geometry. Built for Endurance
Precision engineered for complex profile grinding wheels
Built entirely around your specific part print, our high-performance profile grinding wheels deliver flawless form accuracy and hold tight tolerances during production. By choosing the optimum cBN or Diamond mesh and type for the material being ground, these wheels maximize parts being ground. The result is a highly predictable, repeatable process that reduces machine downtime and ensures consistent surface finishes from the first part to the last.
Form Grinding Where Accuracy Matters
High-Precision Electroplated Wheels for Complex Profile Grinding
Engineered specifically for complex contours and tight geometric tolerances, these grinding wheels are tailored to your exact print specifications to guarantee unwavering profile accuracy and production consistency. By utilizing custom cores precision-machined to your exact target profile, they eliminate the need for dressing—even on deep, intricate forms—to maximize your uptime and ensure repeatable results.
Engineered Around Your Application
Wheel Core Design Considerations
Designed for demanding applications in aerospace, power generation, and automotive manufacturing, these electroplated Diamond and cBN superabrasive wheels are engineered to hold complex contours with extreme accuracy. By plating a single abrasive layer directly onto a custom-machined metal core—available in steel, aluminum, or specialized bronzes—the wheel maintains its exact geometry from the first cut to the last. They excel where vitrified or resin-bond wheels would require frequent dressing to hold form, making them ideal for high-precision geometries across five critical categories:
- Complex Components: Delivering unvarying accuracy on fir-tree roots for turbine blades, broaches, splines, and gear teeth.
- Intricate Geometries: Maintaining exact tolerances on precision threads, V-grooves, slots, radii, and deep forms on tough steels and carbide.
- Eliminating Setup & Runout Bottlenecks: By custom-machining and plating the wheels directly onto Sopko wheel adaptors as a single unit, we achieve near-zero runout right out of the box. If kept mounted, the wheel preserves absolute alignment, completely eliminating the need for tedious manual indicating during wheel changes.
- Drastically Reduced Tooling Costs: Because custom form profiles represent a significant upfront investment, these wheels are engineered to be fully stripped and recoated as long as the core is undamaged, bypassing the expense of purchasing new blanks.
- Sustainable Tooling Lifecycle: By reusing the precision-machined metal cores multiple times, this strip-and-recoat process minimizes material waste and lowers your overall carbon footprint, transforming a high-wear consumable into a highly sustainable, long-term asset.
This comprehensive design ensures highly predictable, repeatable performance while slashing machine downtime and maximizing production efficiency on your most demanding profiles.
Wheel Size: Conventional wheel sizes are available from 5" through 8 with or without Sopko Wheel Adaptor."
Primary Applications in Profile Wheel Processing: Electroplated superabrasive wheels are the definitive industry standard for high-volume, tight-tolerance profile grinding applications. Engineered to deliver flawless geometric contours and highly complex profiling across a wide array of advanced metals, these wheels hold ultra-tight tolerances over long production runs. Because they maintain their exact profile without ever requiring dressing, they eliminate mid-process adjustments—maximizing throughput and ensuring absolute part-to-part consistency.
Simple Purchasing Process
Submitting a Purchase Order for Profile Grinding Wheels
You may place purchase orders via email, fax, mail, or phone. To process your order, we require an AutoCAD or PDF drawing of the part being ground, your required wheel diameter, and complete compensation requirements (if known). Because these wheels involve complex technical specifications, please include a primary email address, contact name, and phone number; our engineering team will need to engage in detailed conversations with you to clarify and confirm all technical data before production.
